Remember the name: Kelechi Iheanacho is a Manchester City star in waiting

Remember the name: Kelechi Iheanacho is a Manchester City star in waiting

The 19-year-old Nigerian is no stranger to City fans but is yet to receive a great deal of recognition elsewhere, something which is sure to change in the coming weeks and months
It's time to talk about Kelechi Iheanacho. Manchester City fans know they have got a serious talent on their hands and, soon enough, the rest of the world will know what all the fuss is about.

The 19-year-old Nigerian, recruited after lighting up the 2013 Under-17 World Cup, only got his papers through last February and spent time at Colombus Crew in the United States and was even stationed out in Barcelona as work permit issues dragged on. He was wowing City fans before he was officially a City player - showing flashes on two pre-season tours and impressing for the club's Elite Development Squad - and moments like today feel a long time coming.

After more than a year's worth of red tape, he has wasted little time showing what he's capable of, but still he is far from a household name

Just seconds into his second ever competitive senior appearance, against Crystal Palace back in September, he drifted into exactly the right area at exactly the right time to score a vital, last-gasp winner for a team who had established themselves as runaway favourites for the title.

Unfortunately for him, that fell the same day as Anthony Martial made his first impression on English football, coming off the bench to score a fairytale goal against Liverpool on his first appearance for Manchester United.

Chelsea had lost to Everton that lunchtime as Jose Mourinho's second spell at Stamford Bridge began to unravel, leaving Iheanacho pushed off the back pages and shunted towards the end of Match of the Day.

Wider exposure would have to wait. Until today, perhaps. City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been criticised by many fans for failing to give Iheanacho more first-team action, even as Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony have missed out through injury, meaning he has largely had to strut his stuff in cup competitions or in late league cameos. It's hard to say he could have done much more.

The youngster scored on his first senior start, against Palace in the League Cup, and was - finally, in the eyes of some - handed a full Premier League debut against Norwich City in the next game at the end of October. That was one opportunity he failed to grasp and found himself limited to late substitute appearances, often when the game was long lost, for the next 10 weeks: he did not start another league match until January 16.

In that time another League Cup goal against Hull City seemed to have fallen off the radar of the general football conciousness, and he was very fortunately credited with another dramatic winner, this time when Yaya Toure's shot deflected off his back and looped into the Swansea net.

It was at Norwich City in the last round of the FA Cup when he made it five goals in four starts with a cool effort from the edge of the box, but that strike and an impressive wider performance was limited to short internet highlights for the majority of City fans, let alone neutrals, given the FA Cup's limited television audience - and lack of illegal streams - around the world.

Switzerland Is Planning To Pay All Its Citizens $2400 Per Month - $570 For Children!

Introduced by a group of intellectuals in the country, the proposal is meant to end poverty and combat inequality- under it, every adult citizen would be entitled to an amount circa $2400 every month.

Children would be entitled to an amount approximately $570 per month.

Critics of the proposal say it would encourage a huge percentage of the populace to stop working, but the group proposing the policy cites a study which showed that most Swiss would keep working despite the income.

“The argument of opponents that a guaranteed income would reduce the incentive of people to work is therefore largely contradicted,” it said.

Whilst I would love to live in such a country, this looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Human beings are not good at doing things without the proper motivation.

Military In Heavy Gun Battle With Boko Haram In Maiduguri This Evening

Explosions and gunfire have rocked Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, this evening as Nigerian Armed Forces engaged Boko Haram terrorists in a fierce battle.

The militants have been attacking Dailori and Walonri villages, on outskirts of Maiduguri, since 7:23pm and continuing at the time of publication.

A Civilian Joint Task Force confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters, he said ''we are under attack by Boko Haram. There is heavy fighting with military in Dalori and Wanori.”

The military continues to fight back Boko Haram at the filing of this report.

God will surely take control...

Switzerland Is Planning To Pay All Its Citizens $2400 Per Month - $570 For Children!

Switzerland is seen by many as a unique country in more ways than one, and they could become more unique if this radical proposal gets voted into law.

A referendum to be held in the tiny European nation on the 5th of June, would decide whether the proposal should be implemented.

Introduced by a group of intellectuals in the country, the proposal is meant to end poverty and combat inequality- under it, every adult citizen would be entitled to an amount circa $2400 every month.

Ex-pastor accused of raping teen in Pennsylvania returns to U.S.

Jacob Malone, a former pastor at Calvary Fellowship Downingtown, is accused of sexually assaulting one of his young parishioners, according to police in West Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania.
Jacob Malone, a former pastor at Calvary Fellowship Downingtown, is accused of sexually assaulting one of his young parishioners, according to police in West Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania.

(CNN)An eastern Pennsylvania man accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating a young parishioner while he was her church pastor has returned to the United States to turn himself in, according to police.
Jacob "Jake" Malone landed at Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, on Monday afternoon, according to Detective Scott Pezick of the West Whiteland Police Department.
Malone is being held in custody in Essex County and is expected to be brought back to Pennsylvania following an extradition hearing, Pezick said.
A video arraignment in Chester County Prison is expected to follow shortly afterward, he added.
Police in West Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania, allege that Malone, 33, developed a relationship with the alleged victim when she was a minor, then invited her to move in with him and his family, and sexually assaulted her after she turned 18 and was living with them.

Police piece together connection

Police say Malone first met the girl in 2009, when she was 12 and a member of a church in Mesa, Arizona, where Malone was an associate pastor, according to the news release.
A few years later, Malone moved to Minnesota to be a pastor at another church. He contacted the girl, who was 17 at that time, and invited her to stay with his family, according to the release.
"While in Minnesota, the victim alleged that Malone began trying to have inappropriate contact with her," the release says.
In July 2014, the teen moved with Malone, his wife and three children to Pennsylvania, where Malone took a pastor position at Calvary Fellowship Downingtown, a nondenominational church, according to Pezick.
Shortly afterward, the teen told police, he began sexually assaulting her.
The victim, then 18, was given alcohol by Malone, according to Pezick.
On at least one occasion, she was sexually assaulted and impregnated by the pastor, the detective said.
Malone is wanted for rape, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, furnishing liquor to a minor and other related offenses, according to Pezick.
Charles Proctor, Malone's attorney, told CNN he would not comment on the charges at this time, but said he is in daily contact with both the West Whiteland police and Malone, who had been in Ecuador.
Malone went to visit acquaintances in Ecuador in recent weeks as an opportunity to give him and his wife "space," according to Proctor.
Police were expecting Malone to return last week, according to Pezick, but Proctor said it was "logistically impossible" for his client to get the 2 a.m. flight back to the United States.

Fellow pastor: Suspect 'flew completely under the radar'

Malone, Pezick said, "was somebody from the church offering to help her, guide her. And that was the problem. She was looking for guidance and an adult to look up to, and she was taken advantage of."
Malone joined Calvary Fellowship in the summer of 2014. As pastor of leadership development, he was responsible for organizing volunteer teams around the church for programs such as worship and Bible studies, according to Bill Bateman, the church's pastor for global outreach.
"He was very good at it," Bateman said.
The church became aware of allegations against Malone in November 2015, according to Bateman, after they received a call from police detectives in Mesa, where similar allegations had been made against him.
"It was a complete shock. Complete shock," Bateman told CNN.
Supervisors at the church confronted Malone with the allegations shortly after finding out about them, Bateman said. Malone immediately resigned, Bateman added.
"Jake Malone passed every check and participated in every educational forum," the church said in a statement. "He flew completely under the radar, deceiving even those who were closest to him. We know this is hard to imagine, but we assure you that no one suspected anything until very recently."
Bateman said that the situation was "heartbreaking." No other church members have come forward with allegations, he said.
The Police Department in Arizona reached out to Calvary Fellowship after a different woman came to them and said that she was sexually offended by Malone as a minor, according to Detective Esteban Flores of the Mesa Police Department.
That alleged victim, who is now 20, said Malone had "sexual contact" with her beginning in 2009 and continuing until 2011, Flores said.
She was a member of the Trinity Church in East Mesa, where Malone was an associate pastor for youth, Flores said.
The Mesa investigation is ongoing, and charges have not yet been brought in that case, Flores said.
The two women do not know each other, he added.
"We're still waiting for our detectives to get ahold of him and conduct an interview," Flores said. "Our detectives have been in contact with his attorneys. If he returns back to Pennsylvania, we would like to talk to him."

'Newtown' director denounces Trump gun comments

Park City, Utah (CNN)Donald Trump's recent remarks that he could "shoot somebody" and not lose political support was an "insult" to communities struck by gun violence, according to the director of a powerful new documentary about the mass school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
"It speaks to the insensitivity and the desensitization" surrounding the issue, Kim Snyder, whose film "Newtown" debuted here at the Sundance Film Festival, told CNN on Monday.
"Spending three years in and around Newtown with survivors in that community, you really do start to really understand the insult," she continued, "and what it feels like when people are so cavalier in speaking about gun violence in such an insensitive and cavalier way."
At a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, on Saturday, Trump said, "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters." Trump initially declined to respond to questions about what he said, but told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Monday he was "joking."
Hours after Trump made his initial comment, Snyder and "Newtown" producer Maria Cuomo Cole dined with former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly. (Cuomo Cole is the sister of CNN "New Day" co-host Chris Cuomo.)
Giffords and Kelly were vocal about their disgust at what Trump said during the rally, Snyder and Cuomo Cole said. Gabby Giffords survived a gunshot wound to the head during a constituent event in Tucson, Arizona, in 2011 and now works with her husband to promote gun safety legislation.
The Trump campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN.
For Snyder, who arrived in Newtown six weeks after a 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza, had fatally wounded 20 first graders, six educators, and his mother on December 14, 2012, before turning one of his weapons on himself, the political nature of the film is inescapable.
"You can't talk about Newtown," she said, "without talking about the conversation of guns and gun reform in the country."
The documentary, which debuted here on Sunday, weaves elements of that fight into the more deeply felt personal accounts provided by the parents of three of the youngest victims.
They come together in a searing April 2013 scene, following the Senate's failure to agree on a compromise amendment that would have required background checks on all commercial gun sales. It is a particular blow for Mark Barden, whose son Daniel was among the youngest victims.
The vote, Snyder says, was "incredibly demoralizing and incredibly disappointing" to people like Barden, Nicole Hockley and David Wheeler.
All three lost sons and their struggle, both to advance gun safety law and manage their overwhelming grief, creates a gut-punch of a film.
"I have this need to know what he experienced," Barden says in "Newtown," explaining the dizzying grief that colors his days. He asks parents to contemplate trying "to interpret what your 7-year-old experienced as he's being murdered in his first-grade classroom."
"We're all terrified of forgetting what he looked like or sounded like," Wheeler confesses, speaking about his son Ben.
Like many of the parents interviewed, Wheeler's thoughts drift toward the lonely hours, and "the tiny, minor questions that become huge questions when you can't sleep at night." That, he says, is what drives his activism.
But the film relies as much on silence, and what its subjects withhold or cannot yet bear to consider, as the details they choose to share.
A doctor on duty at a local hospital at the time of the shootings describes in detail what a bullet from an AR-15 rifle, the weapon used by Lanza, does to the body of a six- or seven-year-old child. But he does not speak about the one victim who made it to the emergency room before succumbing.
Two emergency responders begin to explain what they found at the scene, only to pull back.
State Police Sgt. William Cario was the first to enter, but he too demurs.
"I don't think anyone needs to know specifically what we saw," he says.

Parents In Enugu Face Ostracization For Giving Birth To Conjoined Twins

A Nigerian couple – Segun and Mary Ayeni who gave birth to conjoined twin girls – Miracle and Testimony, on November 16, 2015, in Enugu are facing ostracization from their family & friends. All because of their baby girls’ medical condition.

Miracle & Testimony are joined at the groin. They can easily be separated because according to doctors they do not share any vital organs and also have separate legs and genitals.

The twins are currently being treated at The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Intensive Care Unit where they are visited by their mother (Mary) every day. However Mary noted that though the nurses in the hospital are kind to her twins, she has been stigmatised by some hospital staff as well as her neighbors.

She said,Because of illiteracy or not being exposed, some think that whenever anything (strange) happens, it is somebody that is behind it. Some female workers that clean the hospital asked, ‘Why are you disturbing yourself?’ They told me to leave the kids and run away. But I can never leave them and run away because they are my blood. Some people that heard I had conjoined twins stopped greeting me. Some wouldn’t even talk to me; some that used to come and collect things from me before now talk about me in jest. They laugh. But God will take all the glory.
Aside being conjoined the twins are in perfect health.

Former Actress & billionaire’s wife Caroline Danjuma was alerted to the situation of the conjoined twins on Instagram and she has expressed her willingness to help the family.

INTERVIEW: How I can bring Buhari’s govt. down — Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, Governor of Ekiti state

In this first part of a no-holds-barred interview with PREMIUM TIMES’ Josiah Oluwole in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, speaks about his administration, President Muhammadu Buhari, and other matters.
PT: You have been in office for over one year now? How has it been? What difference have you made in the lives of Ekiti people?
Fayose: You will recall that I am a second term governor and I must have come with some level of experience otherwise we will be in a very serious and a very terrible situation as a government. This is beside the fact that the economy of the state under the last administration was not impressive. The handling of the economy and other things that happened created a lot of challenges for this administration. I employed a strategy to be transparent and took time to engage the people. When you engage the people in the running of your government, it would leave no room for stories and fifth columnists. You will have the people defend you in the event of any misinformation. The other issue that we cannot ignore is the financial inabilities facing my government as a result of the borrowings of the last administration. One, Ekiti earns about the least in Nigeria. Again, Ekiti has low level internally-generated revenue. When you put all this together, it is not an easy run for the government.
The last administration took two sets of loans – the loan from commercial bank and the bond. The bond was for N25billion and the commercial loan was for N31billion, aside from unpaid salaries. These, put together, have handicapped the government from functioning. But it is not enough to tell stories because we told the Ekiti people that we have answers to these problems, so we have to face it. After explaining the cause of the situation to the people, we still have to find solution to the problems. We reduced the size of government. We had about 34 permanent secretaries heading MDAs. We had to cut it down to 25. Of the 25, we have statutory boards like the Teaching Service Commission, Local Government Service Commission, the Civil Service Commission, etc. They are boards you cannot run like the regular ministries. Cutting the size of government and being realistic is important. Before you do that, you have to be an example. You have to run government like your personal business in terms of the fact you have to feel the pains as an individual in order to win the trust of the people.
We ensured the blockage of all wastages. Even at that, the nose-diving of the allocation that comes to the state is another challenge. Between January to October 2014 when (former governor) Fayemi was here and January to October 2015, we had a shortfall of about N11billion of what accrued to the state within the space of 10 months. That made it uneasy for us to run the government. Within the ambit of this, we need to maintain the payment of salaries. One of the things that can cause the downfall of any government is when you cannot pay the wages of your workers or issues that tend to mortgage the future of workers.
PT: Are the Ekiti people following you in the austere measures you are introducing at the moment?
Fayose: The working class is the pulse of the people because the political class is seen as political heads. When you pay salaries it goes down to the commoners. The man that get his wages will have to get his food in the market, he will have to buy pepper, he will buy fuel and all that and in turn the economy expands and the people are reached. One of my strategies is to bring the workers together and declare the earnings of government every month. There is a document from Abuja that says this is your earnings. I give it to them. The state wage bill is supposed to be N2.6 billion but what we got was N1.375 billion.
That is about half. They know that this government is transparent. I make public announcement. I declare the assets of government. The standing committee of the labour, the NUJ, and all that, come together and I ask them to look into the balance and see how we can pay wages. Actually, if they see that what you earn is not up to what you will pay, they know that it is not the fault of the governor. But what we try to do is to ensure that whatever comes is used judiciously for the benefit of everybody. So communication is important. Many people do not know the purpose of the austere measures. They don’t know the price of oil. They only know the status of their stomachs and so you have to educate them. My style is a government that is in tune with everybody. I am a governor that goes to everywhere and every home. I call the different segments of the society and intimate them. They are happy and they know I am giving my best.
PT: What differences can you spot between your first tenure in office and now?
Fayose: Let me tell you this that it is on record that I took over government in 2003 when the economy was at its lowest ebb. Workers were owed salaries. I recall that I paid all the salaries. At my departure I left over N10billion in the coffers of government. We spent N1.14billion as part of contribution for the recapitalization of Wema Bank, among the states of Oodua. And in the entire tenure, I did not borrow a dime to run the state. Far reaching projects that touched the lives of the Ekiti people were carried out under my government. Forget about politics of blackmail and all the noise. There was no road in Ekiti that was dualised before my coming in 2003. I had to summon courage to demolish houses and pay compensation. I did Ikere to Ado-Ekiti, from Ado-Ekiti up till the state hospital. I did Irona, that is, Mathew Street junction up to Ilawe. I was the one that did Adebowo to the police headquarters. I built the Governor’s Office, the fire station. I built the popular Ayo Fayose Market. Even if you don’t like my face, you have to call that market. I built the road from Ikere to Igbara-Odo, from Igbara-Odo to Ikogosi, from Ikogosi to Aramoko, from Aramoko to Efun-Alaye, and from Ado to Afao. I recall that I built the road from Afao to Ire, and so on. I did a lot you cannot forget so soon.

Big ants found living in 12-year-old girl's ear!

AHMEDABAD: Believe it or not, big ants seem to have made a 12-year-old girl's ear their home. At least 10 to 15 of them are emerging from her ear every day . Even doctors, who treated the girl, are shocked to see such a case, for which they have not found any precedent in medical history . However, she does not feel any pain despite the presence of the ants. The doctors, who checked her
ear through laparoscopic camera, could not find any 'queen ant' inside the ear who might have laid eggs

Russian HIV cases reach record high of more than a million

And 70 per cent of victims have no access to medication

More than a million Russians are now HIV-positive, as rates of infection in the country reach an all-time high.
Vadim Pokrovsky, the head of the Russian state Aids centre and an outspoken critic of the Kremlin's conservative health policies, told Reuters that at at least 1 million and possibly as many as 1.5 million Russians were now HIV-positive.
This means that a little over 1 per cent of Russia's 144,000,000 inhabitants now test positive for the virus, meaning that Russia has more cases of HIV per person than any other European country, save Estonia. By way of contrast, there are only around 100,000 individuals in the UK living with HIV.
“The epidemic is gathering strength," Mr Pokrovsky added. "Unfortunately, the measures that have been taken have clearly not been enough.”
There were 90,000 new cases in Russia in 2014, and the Aids centre further estimate that the number of HIV infections will reach 2 million by 2019. Since Russia's first recorded case of HIV in 1987, around 204,000 people have died as a result of the virus.
57 per cent of Russians infected with the virus acquired it through drug use, with around 20 per cent of the country's large number of known drug users testing positive for the disease. Russia has the largest number of intravenous drug users in the world – 1.8 million of them, according to a 2012 Lancet study.
Only around 30 per cent of Russians diagnosed with HIV currently receive the antriretroviral medication that their bodies need to stop the virus from multiplying.
Mr Pokrovsky told Reuters that he needed at least double the $475,000,000 being offered to him by the Kremlin to fight the disease. However, the Russian economy has been deflated by the collapse in oil prices and the imposition of Western sanctions, and there is likely to be even less public health funding available than before.
As such, Russia is in imminent danger of moving from a "concentrated epidemic" of HIV, with the virus confined to one subset of the population, into a "generalised epidemic", with the virus proliferating throughout wider society.
The Aids expert has criticised the Kremlin's policies as responsible for the HIV/Aids epidemic. Points of concern he has previously highlighted include: the increasing influence of the Orthodox Church, which frowns upon the use of condoms; the criminalisation of the sex trade; a lack of sex education; and a failure to ringfence funds for preventative rather than curative approaches to the disease.

Man United hold James Rodriguez talks but miss out on Ashley Cole to LA

Manchester United have been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale time and again, but it could be another Bernabeu talent who ends up at Old Trafford. The Express reports United have been in talks with Los Blancos over a £63 million January move for James Rodriguez, as Zinedine Zidane is "unhappy" with the Colombia icon's attitude, and he's willing to let the 24-year-old attacking midfielder go.
Zizou publicly backed James on Saturday, though Madrid have never been afraid to shed a Galactico before. But United fans can breathe easy as Old Trafford officials will reportedly not let David De Gea move in exchange.
Meanwhile, the Mail reports that Ashley Cole will join LA Galaxy despite "late interest" from United due to their injury problems at full-back, with Matteo Darmian potentially joining Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young on the sidelines.
The Sun says that Wolfsburg's Ricardo Rodriguez may be brought in as cover, or maybe Louis van Gaal can sign the mouse seen on the Old Trafford flanks on Saturday...

Eight accused over King Tut's beard

Egyptian media say prosecutors have referred eight museum employees for trial over the botched reattachment of the beard on the burial mask of the pharaoh, Tutankhamun.
It comes a year after officials opened an investigation into how the blue and gold braided beard came to be detached and then hastily glued back on.
The accused face charges of negligence and violating professional standards.

The 3,000-year-old artefact is one of Cairo's biggest tourist attractions.

Conservators at the Egyptian Museum had given differing accounts of the circumstances of the beard becoming detached.
One suggestion was that it had been knocked off accidentally, another that it had been removed after becoming loose.
Prosecutors said workers then "recklessly" tried to cover up the mistake, using large amounts of inappropriate glue in an effort to fix it.
In all, they made four attempts to reattach the beard, on the later three occasions also trying to remove evidence of their earlier failed efforts.
One report, in the Daily News Egypt, quoted prosecutors as saying: "Ignoring all scientific methods of restoration, the suspects tried to conceal their crime by using sharp metal tools to remove parts of the glue that became visible, thus damaging the 3,000-year-old piece without a moment of conscience."
Those due to face trial include a former director of the museum and a former director of restoration.
Last October, a team of conservators led by German experts began work to remove the damage and reattach the beard professionally.
Following successful restoration, the mask was put back on public display in December.

Real Madrid ban Ronaldo from visiting Morocco

Real Madrid have banned Cristiano Ronaldo from visiting Morocco.

Sport says Ronaldo has been banned from taking his frequent Moroccan trips by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The Portuguese has struggled to consistently find his best form in recent weeks, and Perez has lost his patience.

Ronaldo regularly escapes to Morocco to see close friend Badr Hari, reportedly visiting every afternoon - leaving after training in the morning and returning to Madrid in the evening.

Perez has apparently entrusted the help of Moroccan king and friend Mohamed VI to let him know when Ronaldo is in the country.

Chelsea ponder selling Ramires

Chelsea are weighing up selling Ramires.

The Daily Mail says Chelsea are close to selling Brazilian midfielder Ramires in this transfer window.

The 52 cap midfielder has attracted interest from European heavyweights including Bayern Munich and PSG but there is also interest from further afield.

He signed a new four-year deal in October, but that hasn't stopped other clubs from showing interest and Chelsea listening.

It is expected any sale would free up more transfer funds for the deposed champions as they set about a rebuilding programme.

In his submission Mourinho also presented a forensic analysis of this season's team. The Portuguese has gone through every area of the current squad, offering extensive thoughts on what could be improved as well as making suggestion about signings that could help strengthen the squad.

Death sentence of man who murdered Festac woman in 2004 upheld.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the judgment of a Lagos High Court sentencing a man, Nonso Okeke to death for the murder of one Chinwe Ofomatu on October 28, 2004.

Okeke was convicted by the Lagos High Court on April 13, 2010 for the murder of Ofomatu at her residence in Festac Town, Lagos. He was found guilty, convicted and sentenced to death by the Court.
Okeke was convicted and sentenced to death by the trial court for conspiracy and murder contrary to Sections 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code Act Cap 17, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.

Dissatisfied, Okeke appealed his conviction in Lagos and asked that the judgment of the lower court be upturned. But the appeal failed as the appellate court dismissed the application.

Again, Okeke took his case before the Supreme Court in Abuja and asked that the judgments of the lower courts be upturned.

While arguing the case before the Apex court, the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem had urged the court to dismiss the appeal and uphold the judgments of the lower courts.

Kazeem, who was represented by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs. Idowu Alakija and Mr Justin Jacobs had argued that the appeal was devoid of merit, and ought to be dismissed.

In its judgment, the apex court upheld the arguments by the State Government, and held that the appeal of Nonso Okeke lacked merit.

The court, in the lead judgment delivered by Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammed thereafter dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of the lower courts for him to be sentenced to death.

Giulianelli: Young Portuguese for Man Utd; Guidolin wants Leeds target at Swansea

First match for Francesco Guidolin on Swansea City's bench against Everton on Sunday.
At Goodison Park I don't expect to see lot of changes in the starting XI by the Italian head coach, but of course he will give an injection of motivation and self esteem to the players.
</div> <div id='passback-wb728363ad9'></div>
Tactically he will start with what in Italy we call 'the Christmas Tree': 4-3-2-1 with Andre Ayew and Gylfi Sigurdsson behind the central forward Bafétimbi Gomis, who has scored only four goals up to now and needs to improve his performances.
That's why Guidolin has asked for a new striker, Seydou Doumbia or Leo Pavoletti. Doumbia is available from Roma. Pavoletti, 27, is with Genoa, having turned down Leeds United a year ago.
In the next matches Guidolin could even try with a three line defence: Angelo Ogbonna, at West Ham, could be the right name to lead it.

RUMOURS
I am hearing Manchester United is close to signing Renato Sanches from Benfica for an amount of about €40 million.
Rambo Koeman has offered himself to become the new Chelsea manager, counting on his friendship with Guus Hiddink. Though the Dutchman did deny the story last night.
It's almost sure that the Norwich City target Andrea Ranocchia will remain in Italy: Sampdoria or AC Milan the possible new destinations for the Inter Milan defender.

Baby Born With Unusual Eyes and Half Head In India Survives Against Medical Laws

A baby born with half a head stunned doctors by managing to survive 48 hours.

Sai Nursing Home gynecologist Dr Kusum Lata, 30 said: “These complications occur due to incorrect and irregular eating habits of the mother during pregnancy.

She didn’t have normal movements like other babies when they are born - she wasn’t crying or moving.”

Dr Lata added it was a miracle both mother and child survived.

The mother, who already has three very healthy children, faced extreme difficulties during labour and lost a lot of fluid and blood.

He explained that the baby girl’s brain had not formed properly in the womb and her heart had kept her alive.

But 48 hours later - on Thursday morning - the baby girl died of heart failure.

The mum has now been discharged from hospital and is trying to come to terms with her loss.
A London Court has registered a judgement delivered by a Nigerian court against the military following the bombardment of the Gbaramatu communities in Delta State by the Joint Military Task Force operating in the state in May 2009.
Justice Timothy Holroyde of the Queen’s Bench Division of the Royal High Court of Justice England and Wales, on January 18, acceded to the request of the communities to register the judgement which ordered the federal government to pay them N99 billion damages over the attack.

He however rejected the request by the communities to register the judgement against the president of Nigeria and the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, who were the first and second defendants in the suit.

In their request, the communities had also sought to obtain a worldwide freezing injunction against the assets of the federal government.

The Federal High Court, Asaba, Delta State, had ordered the federal government to pay the communities N99.9 billion damages for gross violation of their rights by the force then coordinated by Sarkin Yakin Bello, a retired major general.

Counsel to the communities, Selekeowei Larry, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, filed the case.

However, two years after the judgement was delivered, the federal government neither complied nor appealed against it, forcing the communities to request the London Court to register it.

Before applying to the Queen Bench Division High Court of Justice‎ in London, to register the judgment, the communities wrote twice to the then Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, asking the government to comply with the judgment.

On May 5, 2009 the task force invaded Gbaramatu communities in Warri South West Local Government of Delta State killing and maiming residents and also destroying properties worth billions of naira.

They however filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Asaba on June 22, 2009 against the president, the attorney general of the federation and Mr. Bello.

In the suit, the communities also asked the court to declare the bombardment unconstitutional and a gross violation of their rights.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Ibrahim Buba said the bombardment of the communities by the military resulting in the demolition/destruction of houses, household furniture/wares, boats, canoes, domestic animals and displacement of members of the communities “is in violation of section 217 (2)(c) of the 1999 constitution and is therefore unconstitutional.”

Mr. Buba added, “That the sum of N49 billion is awarded in favour of the plaintiffs as special damages against the defendants jointly severally.

“That th
e sum of N50 billion is also awarded as aggravated and punitive damages against the defendants jointly and severally for the unlawful bombardment and sacking of the plaintiffs’ communities which resulted in wanton destruction of their houses, household furniture and other wares, their domestic animals, canoes, boats, sacred places, artifacts etc and which resulted in total displacement of members of the communities for minimum of three months from 15th May 2009, the effect of which was that members of the communities were living in the swampy mangrove forests in subhuman conditions while others were in a concentration camp and suffered loss of income, disease, and mental torture and the education of their children of school age was disrupted.”
